EGBEDA, OYO STATE, The political landscape of Egbeda Local Government witnessed a major development on Thursday as *Hon. Ibraheem Sulayman Olaosebikan, popularly known as “Ibo Loju Egbeda,” a prominent loyalist of Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, officially dumped the Accord Party and declared his allegiance to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) alongside thousands of his supporters.*

Olaosebikan, who was previously a strong figure within the Accord Party structure, announced his decision to abandon the party and its governorship candidate, citing his confidence in the APM's leadership, grassroots structure and political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.

His defection attracted prominent APM leaders and stakeholders in Egbeda, who gathered to formally receive him and his supporters into the party.

The atmosphere was charged as Olaosebikan and his supporters were welcomed into the APM fold, with party leaders describing the development as a significant boost to the party's grassroots mobilisation in Egbeda.

The new APM member subsequently pledged his loyalty to the party and promised to deploy his political network and supporters toward strengthening the APM across Egbeda Local Government and the wider Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency.

The defection is already generating political conversations across the constituency, coming at a time when political parties are intensifying grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

For APM supporters, the entry of “Ibo Loju Egbeda” and his followers represents more than an ordinary defection; it is being viewed as a fresh addition to the party's growing grassroots coalition and a development that could further alter the political calculations in Egbeda.
